Brandi Dickey, 29 year old daughter of Bubba Dickey and Paula Thornton Pittsinger was first diagnosed with Nodular Melanoma, an extremely aggressive type of skin cancer in March, 2010. Since then she has undergone multiple surgeries, radiation treatments and is currently being treated with Interferon injections, but in early August, her cancer reared it's ugly head again. In order to continue this fight, Brandi's doctors insist that MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is the best place for her. Brandi has no insurance and can not work due to the Interferon injections keeping her down physically. Brandi has a strong faith in God and many loving and caring family members and friends, but she desperately needs our help to make it to Houston.

Brandi is an outdoor girl who has lived in Azle all her life. She loves to go out and shoot guns with her main man Hunter, and play with their many dogs of all shapes and sizes. Brandi also loves children and although she doesn't have any of her own yet, has worked with children in many capacities. Her best friend is her Mother, Paula and she adores her two nieces Kennedy and Gracie. She's the most down-to-earth person anyone could ever hope to meet.

From Paula's FB Post Mar 23rd

I am waking up one thankful and blessed mother! Yesterday 3/22/2012 Brandi became "tumor" free for the first time in 2 years, 1 month and 7 days!!! I don't expect all of you to understand the elated and relieved feeling that we as a family feel, BUT you all have become our extended family and I do know how loved she is by all of you. Your consistent love, support and PRAYERS have demonstrated that. You never backed away and forgot about her fight...... THANK YOU. Her fight continues but with more evidence of hope than we have had to date. Pray her body can hold up to the discomfort from side effects! Love your families and remember to smile at a stranger today and everyday! It may be just what they need and YOU will have made a difference!!
